if i was smugling 40 laptops in to sell then i'd expect them
to say - "excuse me . . ."

is there any real need to put serials for your electronics ?

i mean , when your goos come - is somebody going to open every box and take all your gear out and check serials to you list ?

some of us can't even bend low enough to see them in the first place



p.s. ever wished you had spelt follow correctly ?

I guess two issues:

1. If you're importing it and they do check, then without a serial number you'll have a harder time proving you owned it before moving over. Particularly if you don't actually bring it until some time later (took me two years to bring all my electronics over).

2. If you later take it out of the country temporarily (e.g. on a vacation abroad) then you can prove it's not taxable when you bring it back.
