Goods to follow

Hi all

Our things left with Movecorp last wed, they filled out a job sheet and said that's what I take through airport with me, it just says box, with no details of what's inside its the same for all the boxes, so essentially all of our goods are not listed, they are adamant this is all I need and when I tell them about things I've read about an inventory they just dismiss it?

I am going in to join my husband on his twp if that makes any difference?

Thanks

Gemma...I don't know, but this would seem to be incorrect. Our shippers listed all of the items in numbered boxes, as in "box No.72 - Books". The items were itemised both on the box and on the inventory list, we then added a value to each box on the list in the end column of the inventory, and that was the list that we used for our goods to follow. Best of luck.

If the packing/moving list just says box or box 27 of 50 then that wont be enough for a goods to follow list for CBSA.
CBSA need an idea of what is in the boxes to make a decision to examine or not. No description of goods means they will be asking for a list describing the goods.

Thank you both, I'm going to phone them tomorrow. My things are still on a container waiting to be shared so I would hope there was some way I can get the paperwork amended? I hope so!!

You will need more information which is best done on an excel spreadsheet and attached to the removal companies list, the CBSA officer said the one we did was much easier than a handwritten one but you only need it to outline the contents i.e. 5 boxes of kitchenware, 3 boxes of bedding, 2 boxes of dvds/books etc. We used Movecorp for our move from France to the UK before coming to Canada I sincerely hope you have a better experience than we did but please make sure you have adequate insurance - we needed ours!!

Oh god that doesn't sound good, I'm almost scared to ask but what happened? I do have everything insured, good job aswell by the way they were throwing things into the boxes at that point I thought this isn't looking good....!!

I am sure yours will be fine. It was one of those things that just started badly and went worse from thereonin! They were late arriving in France which meant that they had to rush the packing and as it was all supposed to be going into a container for shipment to Canada they were going to export wrap it once it got back to the UK - ummmmm no!!

Circumstances meant that we stayed in the UK for 18 months so went to pick up our stuff out of storage and it had not been export wrapped at all and was literally slung in a container which was shared with someone else. They didn't realise that my husband was the customer and as a result were not at all careful about what they did with our stuff.

Anyway long story short and we had to make a claim but it was only Ikea type furniture we had so the claim was not substantial but they had thrown golf clubs on top of a lamp, tables had no coverings and were on a gritty container floor - it was just a disaster and in the end they gave us back some of the cost as well due to the fact that the stuff they didn't get wrapped in France was left exposed to the elements.

I am sure yours will be fine as it was packed at your house and is going on to Canada without a storage stop in between. Maybe we were just unlucky - I think it was just a multitude of things that went wrong and from the first day it gave me a bad feeling but hey ho live and learn. Others will hopefully come along with positive experiences about Movecorp I am sure lots have used them without incident.

Good luck with the move :)
