So Ford just handed me a quote for work I need doing on a Ford Escape.

I have always taken my car there with no problems, however the labour rate $140 is a bit steep as I need about 10 hours of work doing.

Can anybody recommend a good quality garage, with a lower labour rate?

I live in the NW Calgary.

Only place in Calgary that I've found that I trust is Tunedub in the SW for VW and Audi needs. Not sure if he takes in other makes though? Avoid Westmount Auto in the NW at all costs. I'd be interested to hear if you find somewhere you're happy with as I have an Escape now and hate taking it to the dealership. An auto place could make a killing by just being honest, but so many like to screw people over routinely.

I'd be interested to hear too, I have a Ford Escape that needs some repairs, and in my experience, main dealers rip you off.

Is it worth trying to get your own after market parts, to keep costs down? I think most main dealers keep an eye on others labour rates, so they are all about the same. Could try further afield, I think the labour rates for Red Deer are around $120. I think our local independents charge about the same as main dealers though.
