Going through the motions

We have got permanent residency visas, sold the house, sold possessions but still not moving. We have a great life in the UK but feel like we are just going through the motions each day counting down the time until we move to Canada in August. I wish time would speed up but perhaps I should just go through life as normal forgetting I am moving for a few more months. ;)

What's your question?

I went through some motions earlier. It was very satisfying - even though I didn't have a fag afterwards.

Mine are sometimes the best part of my day.

I remember this point - its horrible - your life's on hold. It will pass just think of every day as being a day closer.

And if that doesn't help, have a fag whilst doing your motions and think of our lovely members in BC.

Can you use the time by maybe visiting some part of UK/Eurpoe that you always meant to but never got around to before????
A weekend in Rome or something?

This is a top idea! We should have done more of this and regret it now

I agree with this too, we did some of this, y'know visiting stately homes and local attractions, I do wish we had spent the day at the beach and travelled on a few more city breaks in the UK and in Europe, if the funds are there do as much as you can.

I am with Piff Poff. We want to come to Canada in the next eighteen months, when our son finishes Primary. We are going to use every bit of the time now till we go 'enjoying' the good bits about where we live so that, hopefully, all our last European memories are really happy ones.

Its definately hard being almost in limbo.
I agree with the others, make the most of Europe being so close by, and enjoy some parts of the UK that you haven't visited before.
Where are you relocating to?
The time will soon fly by, especially the last few weeks when there seems like so much to do!
Good luck!

I agree with the above. Make the most of your time enjoying being with your family and friends, visit the lovely countryside, go around Europe, drink your fill of the cheap wine, eat the wonderful food, watch the footie, the great tv and radio, stock up on some decent clothes and of course the pubs and restaurants. Just relax it'll all be over soon.

Why are you moving if you have a great life?

I was wondering about that, too!

Re: Going through the motions

Im moving to be closer to my family and because when I applied (5 years ago) was at a different stage. Im now married, have money in the bank, an ok job etc but if I dont go my pr will expire and there is no way I can get another chance as the points system / job categories has changed. Im willing to try and see if life is even better elsewhere. I may also want my own family one day and apparently the UK is 'going to the dogs' as my mum keeps telling me! I am British (born in Yorkshire) but grew up in Dubai and Hong Kong (my dads a pilot) so have only lived in the UK for 15 years. I will be living with my brother when I get there and it will be nice to have the whole family together at christmas.

I am off to Holland in a few weeks and went to Portsmouth at the weekend so am making a bit more of my time here. We are also planning to go to Spain to visit my husbands parents and perhaps a few more day trips are on the cards. Its suprising whats on your door step! We sold our house in November and it feels strange to rent, especially as we are renting a wooden chalet in the country. Cant wait to buy our own house again!

Thanks for your comments (not the first few!)
