Going back to Edmonton.

I have just returned from a weeks visit to Calgary...and managed to secure a job offer..but in Edmonton ..I was offered a lot more than I asked for which was a surprise considering the state of the economy. Now I lived in Edmonton for two years between 2010-12 so you would think it would be all good...but it seemed a lot more depressing than I remember which could be down to the fact it as cold and grey when I was there..or me maybe I had got used to living in Calgary...im struggling to remember why I liked living there before?

Anybody in Edmonton that can rekindle the positive vibes?

I visited Calgary and Edmonton this year. I don't know why but Edmonton just felt soulless. I was hoping it wasn't going to be like how everyone says because there seems to be so much work there. I'd be interesting in some positive vibes too, to know why some people do seem to love the place.

Edmonton has a nice new airport addition now that its complete. Other than that there is a reason why some call it Deadmonton but as Oink says at least its not Regina.

An airport that is like an hour away from actual Edmonton. But yeah the great news is that it is the biggest in the country.

That would be good if you could actually fly there?..i could find no direct flights from the UK...AC used to do direct flights from Heathrow...plus its in Leduc which is 15-20 mins from Edmonton not an hour!

So apparently in Edmonton they have been chanting "LOCK HER UP".

Alberta Premier, although I don't think she was under investigation or charged with anything, I may be wrong as I haven't been following. Just the usual USAlite copying

That's exactly it.

All she did was to support Kinder Morgan's pipeline so Albertans can get back into work.

From what I read it was a small protest and most Albertan's find it ridiculous.

Nope, it's a shit hole - I would relocate to Calgary if it wasn't for my canadian wife refusing to move. Money isn't everything. Brain damage living here is much worse.

Sorry what has that got to do with anything, when you consider airport's are a place you visit a handful of time a year and this one is 30km south of the city? WTF does an airport extension have to do with adding credibility to any city's profile for attracting visitors? Even if you wanted to go plane spotting there's only bloody WestJet and 737s operating.
