Getting our permanent residence cards.
Myself and my family have our permanent residency and landed 2 weeks ago to get our documents signed by the immigration officer. To get our pr cards we need an address to get them sent to. We are not moving til next summer from the uk and wondered whether we can get the pr cards sent to our friends in Calgary as they don't send them to a uk address.
Thanks in advance to any replies :) |

Re: Getting our permanent residence cards.
thats what we did we had ours sent to our relative in vancouver and then they posted them on to us in the uk, we are not moving until summer 2014 either. Make sure whoever posts them to you has them tracked, we got in a panic with ours as they were posted to us and took about 4 weeks to arrive in the uk, we thought they had been lost....:)

Re: Getting our permanent residence cards.
Thanks for the replies, does it matter if they get posted to a different province than the one we are moving to? :)

Re: Getting our permanent residence cards.
We landed at Christmas last year and gave the address of friends in Calgary, the immigration officer knew we were only on holiday at that time, there was no problem with giving a friend's address. He has since forwarded our PR cards to us in the UK, they're on my desk now as I type.

The technical reason against it is that if they come to check the address you give and you are not living there then all hell breaks loose. Of course, they probbaly don't bother at all in about 99.99% of cases. |
