Getting to Niagara Falls from Toronto

Hi All,

Wondering if anyone can recommend the most efficient (time / cost) way to get out to the Falls. I know there are a few options by bus- just wondering if anyone has had positive experiences with any one carrier in particular?

Cheers.

Hi geo4, you can take the train. It depends on the station closest to you in Toronto. He's a link, have a look at it.....the station in Niagara Falls is on Bridge street..:)

I have both driven and been on a bus tour (from Sheraton Hotel, TO) to the Falls. Whichever way you go be sure to stop in past Niagara-on-the-lake - it's very pretty.

When i visited Toronto i went to the falls on one of the bus tours, i think the company was called chariots of fire. I would defo recommend them. They picked us up from downtown outside the hard rock cafe and spent the whole day there. It was amazing and also took the helicopter ride:thumbsup:
The guy also gave us history of buildings and areas that we drove past while travailing:)
I got very confused and lost using the rail system lol

Thanks guys. Have been many times in the past when we had a car- this time I am going to "land" so won't be doing anything remotely touristy.

Thanks for suggestiosn.

I went to Niagara recently by using Coach Canada, departing from the Bay St Terminal & arriving at Fort Erie Terminal. The journey itself was grand, no problems. When I called into Bay St to enquire about tickets & prices, the lady was nice enough to tell me that the ticket would work out $10 cheaper if I just bought it on the day of travel. I think it came to under $40 return. Bargain.

How many of you are there? The train is apparently good - I think the Bells (Zoe and Ben) did that for a sightseeing trip with some success. If all you're after is to get there and back to "flagpole" it might be worth renting a car for the day. Single-day rental rates are comparable to a handful of round-trip train tickets, I'd have thought.

Just me and the trouble. Looked into a car but we'd be back too late to return it the Saturday (have to watch Arsenal in the morning- I know, I know) and that would mean not being able to return until the Monday (closed Sunday).

Actually looking at the Casino bus now which is $25 round trip and leaves every hour, on the hour.

Ooh, are you looking into the Safeway Tours one? The one whose office is in Days Hotel on Carleton St. I fancied that myself, such a good deal, but I was concerned I wouldn't have enough time at Niagara given the return times (I was there on 'official' business too).

If you go for that option be sure & let us know how you get on! Still fancy using them myself at some point.

The hangover I awoke with on Saturday morning would not have been conducive to taking public transit. So I hired a Ford Focus (most impressive drive BTW)

Here's my landing experience in great depth, including my feelings and thoughts at each step.

We just did this trip by train - tickets were cheap compared to uk for the distance - was about 2 1/2 hours each way. Only negative point to bear in mind is that you need to take a taxi from the station as its way too far to walk. We'd done the coach tour to Niagara before and figured that we'd see a different bit of the country by train...

BRILLIANT... I was going to recommend driving (which I did last April visiting family in NF after flying into Pearson... but I hated the QEW. Oh and that link doesn't work. And by the way, come on you Gooners - 4:1 and Adebayor and Fabregas will be fit for duty in two weeks.
