Getting A Job In Canada - Try, Try Again?

Listening to CBC-1 this morning and a very interesting episode of the 'Intersections' show, talking about the 'immigrant experience' in finding work here and the need (for those of non-Anglophone background) to be aware of cultural differences.

One of the programme's Canadian 'expert contributors', Lionel LaRoache, was telling that one should keep in mind, when writing one's resume, the fact that this country is a land of specialists, largely due to the need to compete with American companies.

This means that one must portray oneself as a specialist in something (by experience or qualifications) as the employer will expect his employees to reflect the corporate ethos of specialization.

Food for thought...and something I have not seen discussed here on BE.
