Just goes to show you shouldn't listen to everything you're told about Canada! I was expecting it to take months, with countless rejections and "No Canadian experience, eh?" quips.

And to be honest, I'm not exactly a mega-talented Superwoman or anything (although my new employer probably expects otherwise...)

Just keep charming them with your accent... like "of course I'm more intelligent, I'm BRITISH" and you'll probably get away with it for another 5 years *lol* ONLY KIDDING!!! CONGRATS!

Well done! It's always good to hear that - I'm a bit worried about getting a job but I don't really mind what I do. If hubby gets a job on the same salary he's on now (if we can get a transfer in-company) he'll be on about $65,000 so I don't have to earn much to start with.

Two job offers? Maybe you can pass the one you don't want over to someone else? :-)

Congrats, Tidge...I have had no problem finding a job in Vancouver, either! I started emailing resumes about a week after arrival. I sent out 8, got called for 3 interviews the day after sending the resumes, and was offered 2 positions within the week! Even better, the position I accepted is almost identical to the position I left to come to Canada in the first place! The hubby has now been guilted into doing some serious job hunting, too!

I am working at the Vancouver Opera as a ticket center manager. It's a great place to work. I previously worked at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston in the same position. I did take a pretty significant pay cut in Vancouver, but it all weighs up as I am not paying for health insurance here - that makes an extra $400 a month to take home (that's how much I paid for coverage in the US!) I was offered positions with Flight Center and the Aquarium, but decided on the Opera as it's a 10 minute walk from where I live!!

Excellent, best wishes and I'm sure you'll have great fun. All that Opéra around!
