Gas industry
 

Hi everyone.
Doe's anyone out there have any info on the domestic gas industry, in particular are UK qualifications recognised and if so what are the work prospects?

CORGI isnt recognised in Ontario, so I doubt anywhere else. For Ontario you contact TSSA with a list of boilers etc you have worked on, number of hours, letter from your supervisors and then they say if you can take "challene" their exam.

They said MOH was allowed to sit the stage 2 exam instead of stage 3 as he has loads of experience. Trouble was/is there are no study guides or books unless you are enrolled at a college. Round here thats full time study.

There are jobs, we just cant get at them. You may have better luck.

Good evening: The certification process depends on where you want to work as a gas fitter in Canada and whether you already hold plumbing qualifications (C&G, NVQ). For info on the process in BC http://www.itabc.ca/TrainingPrograms...eProfileID=184

Job market for plumbers/heating engineers is excellent in Western Canada (Vancouver and Calgary) On our last reccie, we met up with an ex-CORGI ... he said the domestic gas industry is a different kettle of fish (as you would expect) Best advice is to call the relevant agencies in each province for the lowdown (contact details in links ...just keep in mind the time difference;))
