FX brokers

Can someone suggest a good currency exchange company in the UK? Have just sold the house, so will eventually want to transfer a larger amount over here.

Used to use HiFX, but their rates are not that good, and are having issues with them because of us now being in Canada.

Thanks.

Never had a problem with these in about 8 years.

Unlikely you are having issued because you are in Canada. FX brokers are used to having clients overseas.

You could also look at Custom House Currency Exchange, we use them quite a bit and have had no problems. Rates don't vary hugely between them. Some brokers don't charge a separate fee and include it in the rate, others charge a fee.
What you could consider is booking a target rate.

We are sort of having issues because of being in Canada.

We changed address to my daughter's address (still in UK), and informed HiFX of this. Changed address with bank, too. Had to send supporting documents to HiFX to prove that she is linked to our UK bank account (personal banker sorted this); send utility bills from Canada; they are not very happy about us having only a PO Box address...

That's why I'm looking for someone else.

You would have had this issue with any financial organisation not just HIFX.

Fair enough, there is a way people can deal with it when it comes to changes though, and it just feels that HiFX is messing us about a bit. That's all.

So, if anyone can recommend anyone else... it would be appreciated. Thanks. ;)

Ok, ok. I did see them. Thanks.

Just wondered if there are more suggestions. That's all. Thanks anyway.

We've always used Satworldwide (www.satworldwide.co.uk). Used them initially when we were in the UK to transfer our house equity over and have used them a few times since being in Canada to transfer over smaller amounts. Always been really happy with them.

We had pretty much the same issues with HiFX. Got the whole thing setup from the UK for my parents address which matched the bank address. Then when we anted to update the address on record they wanted utility bills and tenancy agreements. Since we were staying at a B&B for a month we couldn't provide any of that.

Gave up on them in the end.
