Full time or Full time equivalent studies

HI guys:

Can any body tell me what does it mean by Full time or Full time equivalent studies? Yes, I understand 15 hours of class per week is considered as Full time studies. What is full time equivalent?

One more Question. It is compulsory to submit IELTS score together with the application?

Thank you for your help.

sincerely,
Val

Re: Full time or Full time equivalent studies

1. full time equavalent means the courseload involved in the program, although not carried out over what is considered full time is equavalent to the corrosponding full time load (compressed classes 2 days a week)... and most of the time, its not 15 hours per week thats the criteria, but rather, full time education means that education may be reasonably considered the primary occupation and focus of the individual...

so in essence, you may be studying at an institution on a full time basis (working part time lets say) and your full time focus is the education... conversely, you may be working full time, with your focus primarily on the employment, but are undertaking an accelerated post graduate program that has a courseload similar to a full time program, you will be considered to having a full time equavalent education...

2. no its not compulsory, but if you dont then the visa officer has to subjectively consider what would be your level of proficency of the language, and award points as s/he sees fit... on the other hand, if you do submit the test results, then the points awarded to you would be on the basis of the test results, and there is no ambiguity, and subjective evaluation...

Dear Mr.Bighead

Thank you for your reply. So I understand that a study of evening course with approximately 10 to 15 hours a week for 3 years and degree issued by a reputed University or college is considered Full time equivalent. Kindly correct me if wrong.
One more question - Is correspondence course with contact classes considered for degree or diploma. Your reply appreciated
Thank you
