With FSW, Is quebec within reach ?
Dear Seniors,
for this query, i have browsed through many forums but have not got a satisfactory reply. I request you all to please help me with it I got a FSW (PR) for Canada. Howerver now I see few good career options in Quebec. I have following queries: 1) With FSW, Am I eligible to work in Quebec ? Landing is not a problem. I can land anywhere, inside or outside Quebec 2) I have no knowledge of French but I am planning to learn basic french. Is French mandatory ? 3) Do I have to land and get SIN outside Quebec? Will I be able to get medical insurance in Quebec ? Thanks in advance. Cheers |

I can land anywhere, inside or outside Quebec Are you sure you can land anywhere? My understanding of FSW was that you can land anywhere EXCEPT for in Quebec. I'd check that out thoroughly. You can work in Quebec, as there's freedom of movement within Canada once you arrive. If you move there straight after you land though, you may be asked some tricky questions when you come to registering for health care etc. Depending on where in Quebec you are going, you could live in Ontario (e.g. Ottawa) and work in Gatineau without any issue. 2) I have no knowledge of French but I am planning to learn basic french. Is French mandatory ? No it is not mandatory. There are plenty of people who live in areas of Quebec who don't speak French. However, your job opportunities will be far more limited though, especially outside of Montreal. Learning French will certainly be a good thing to do for social interactions if nothing else. 3) Do I have to land and get SIN outside Quebec? Will I be able to get medical insurance in Quebec ? Not sure. I would if I were you though. If you wanted to live in Quebec you should have immigrated via the Quebec immigration program, FSW is meant for immigration elsewhere in Canada. I believe you need to have lived in Quebec for 3 months before you can get medical insurance anyway - that's the situation here in Ontario too. Thanks in advance. Cheers |

I am open to jobs in Canada anywhere but some good opportunities of my profile in Quebec is making me think in that direction. I know French will be required to work successfully there and I am learning that....but I wanted to clear my doubts so that I can look for those options too.. Thanks a lot for your update. Cheers |
