Apparently they are really expensive new.

My thoughts EXACTLY. UGLY.

I don't know of anybody who owns one, had a friend consider it but then went with the Ford Edge instead.

3.5L V6, no diesel option. Another over-sized, unnecessary, environmental disaster of a car.

Comfortable though, I sat in one at a tractor and monster truck pull last summer.

Probably the only really appropriate place for them to be

There was a draw for a chance to drive one of these:

I didn't win and left in the Beetle.

They were lauded as being "the new face of Ford" when launched, if I remember correctly. Unusual styling, a multitude of safety features and comfortable seating for a family of 12 or something...

Very very few family cars/SUVs, even pick-ups do have a diesel option here.

In SUV's I think the choice is now limited to the VW Toerag...sorry Toureg? Grand Cherokee CRD is no longer available and the Liberty hasn't been available in a diesel since the previous gen. Truckwise, you have to go up to 1 ton pick-ups - F250/GMC2500/RAM2500 to get a diesel and then they are 6 litre monsters.

Thought I would wait a little until at least one semi positive comment , so I suppose I should whisper this but.................I have a Ford Flex

Honestly, its probably one of the best cars I've owned. It is really good to drive ( I have drove through the Rockies in mid December from Kelowna to Calgary, and as bad as the conditions were........and they were bad, it felt really safe and handled great )

I actually liked the shape, but my wife did put her foot down on having a Black one because she said it did look like a Hearse

The main reason was the room inside, as with two kids , and mountains of luggage (the wife) when we travel somewhere , it holds 7 and luggage comfortably !!

We drove to California last year in it and it took us 3 days, and it was a pleasure to drive !!

It is unusual and it is like Marmite..........you either love it or you hate it......but I have been really pleased with mine

Mercedes and BMW offer diesel SUV options too.

I test drove the Jeep and Merc diesels back to back, then the Merc gas equivalent, and after doing the sums couldn't justify the diesel option - sticker price too high and the improved mileage too negligible taking into account local pump prices for diesel.
