Cool Flights Prices more expensive from canada,

Flights, Air Transat seem to be the cheapest I bought a one ticket for £130 including tax from London to Toronto if I wanted to fly back I getting quotes of $700 - $800. is this really the case or am I missing something.

Transat is a charter airline. If you find the day of the week/month they fly back to the UK you'll also get a very cheap flight.

If you're picking a proper scheduled airline for your return flight (Air Canada, BA etc) then yes, that is the kind of price you're going to pay.

What dates?

It is however true that the same ticket on Air Transat, probably on other airlines too, costs more if you buy it in Canada than if you buy it in the UK, perhaps by telephone from Canada.

Call the Canadian Affair office in London. I booked a one way ticket to London in club class for $420.00 taxes included. If I booked in economy it would of cost me about $187.00 taxes included.

Doesnt canada extract a lot of taxes on flights? Are they avoided to some extent by buying from the UK instead or is that some naive dream?

The taxes are certainly startling. I just booked a couple of flights on points, the tickets are free but the airport taxes are more than $500 per ticket.

I got some mates coming here to toronto in the summer(july) for a month and I want to go home for xmas for 1 - 2 weeks depending on work.

if you do and you don't have UK card I would just get a family member or friend to pay for them and send them the money.

How so? The taxes alone seem to be $4-500 on a return flight, however you book it. The absolute cheapest flights seem to be around $800 return all in. From the UK end it's about 3-400 quid. Surely the taxes alone exceed $187.

That's what I'm seeing.
