flight baggage, more if immigrating

Interesting little thing happened yesterday. I was sorting out my tickets to fly out to Canada and thought it was all organised but the American airlines lady called me back and said she thought i said i was emigrating and if so i was entitled to a much larger baggage allowance. Just had to Fax through my visa/permit before they would ok it

A total of 84Kg now

Thought it might be handy to know!

That is indeed interesting news. I know a couple of people who have flownwith
Canadian Affair from the UK when ammigrating have paid to upgrade their seats to
premium class ( i think for £79 if i recall on JMC charter flight) and one of the
things it gave them was increased baggage allowance, but even then only up from the
standard 20Kg to about 38Kg, nowhere near 84. id have tought they surcharge you a lot
for that much because of the extra fuel they have to load to balance it out. maybe
its just because they wont get very many emmigraters so its not too common an
occurance. I will now think seriously about flying American Airlines if that is the
case, i flew with them to Canada not long ago and they were very good. but 84Kg of
baggage allowance would be great.

I was just talking to American Airlines today and they said the allowance is 2 bags at 32 Kg's each and one hand luggage at 18Kg's so as usual my math was pretty bad and its 82K's but still not bad
