First interview in Canada
Afternoon all,
Just had a call from an accounting recruitment agency in Calgary to say that an employer wants me to attend an interview tomorrow morning. Excited is not the word. We moved to Canmore in August and good accounting jobs are few and far between locally. Plenty in Calgary but I don't want to drive over an hour to work each day. Now for the silly girlie question. Normally, for a first interview I would wear a skirt and jacket suit and for\if a second interview the real "power" much more formal suit. The job is that of Financial Controller so is pretty senior. Sorry for the question but nothing else to worry about today:huh: Any sugestions ( no rude ones please - I nearly killed myself laughing at the Monster Minge thread). Hope to God that I don't think of that in the middle of the interview tomorrow. Thanks all :) |
Re: First interview in Canada
And now for the actual question.

Re: First interview in Canada
Sorry - can't help you either - but you did divert my attention to a certain other thread for about 10 minutes !! ;)
Good luck with the interview though - but would that be a daily commute ? - ouch ! |
Re: First interview in Canada
Thanks Rosie and Ann M
Sorry forgot to mention that the job is in Banff. God alive, I don't know it I could do the commute ito Calgary from Canmore every day. As for the other thread - a word of warning - do not read while drinking anything, you keyboard could get a soaking. Regards Alro |

They arent marshans from another planet and if the position is senior then I would say a suit is more appropriate. The best of luck to you and dont worry you will do fine. |
Re: First interview in Canada
Thanks Smelly
Will wear suit as normal. It is not like I have tonnes of clothes to choose from as I had a clothing cull before we moved over. Had to as my 12 year old daughter is the Imelda Marcos of Buckinghamshire. We only had a 20ft container, which she took up 50% of it with her blooming things:sneaky: Thanks again |
Re: First interview in Canada
I'd go for the formal suit to all interviews. It shows you are taking it seriously.

Thanks rwin
All out of the wardrobe and ready to go for tomorrow. Regards:) |
Re: First interview in Canada
Classic, formal buisness type suit unless you are told otherwise.
But only wear what you would normally and are comfortable in, as you don't want to be distracted in the interview wondering if your boobs are staying in your new balcony bra, or worried that your suspender belt is going to come undone and your stockings will fall to the ground the minute you stand up! |

Re: First interview in Canada
Afternoon all,
Had interview this morning. I think it went well - sometimes hard to judge. It was fairly informal and hopefully something wil come of it as I really like the sound of the job. Fingers crossed. by the live to ski - the balcony bra was not needed (I have never heard of that one before). However my eight year old son was acting up this morning while I was trying to get ready so I nearly flung him on his school bus by the time it came at 7:30am. Anyway thanks for all your responses and hopefully not too many more interviews before the right job comes along. Alro |
