First Direct banking on the go app
I would be very grateful if someone can please can someone recommend how I can download the FD app to my cell here in Canada. I assume I'm not able to as I'm not in the UK. I also can't download the Virgin Media UK app (I have a UK SIM card) and I assume it's difficult for the same reason. Should have done all this while in the UK a couple of weeks ago but of course I didn't think about it!
Thank you in advance! |

Thank you in advance! https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...gonthego&hl=en https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/firs...405905004?mt=8 I'm presuming that you had already registered for telephone and online banking... Have you tried to download it when your UK sim is in the phone? If all else fails you could ask them on Twitter https://twitter.com/firstdirecthelp?lang=en or by private message on FB https://www.facebook.com/firstdirect/ Sorry if you have already tried these, just grasping at straws :) |
Re: First Direct banking on the go app
Hi Thank you!!
I've tried all that: the apps don't show or show incompatible with my devices (I have the latest Android systems etc.) I am registered for online banking and the UK SIM is in the number 2 slot. I reckon it's because I am not physically in the UK ... S |
Re: First Direct banking on the go app
I just tried and downloaded it to my phone.
Is your Google Play/iTunes account registered in Canada? Mine is registered in the UK and because of that I can't download the RBC or PC Plus apps over here. |
Re: First Direct banking on the go app
Thank you for this! I've had the google play account quite a long time but maybe it's not registered to the UK. How do I check? Thanks!
Kind regards. |
Re: First Direct banking on the go app
That, I can't help you with, I'm afraid! I've been trying to work out how to switch mine over to Canada for the last 6 months;)

Re: First Direct banking on the go app
Ahh but thank you anyway! Hopefully someone will be along soon who can help us both!!
So on the computer it says the App is incompatible with all my devices. It identifies my Moto G3 as with a Virgin Canada SIM and says my tablet is incompatible I think because it has no carrier (which is identified). |
Re: First Direct banking on the go app
You need to use a UK-based google account...i've had the same dillema with my Maltese banking app-needed to sign up for a Google account based in Malta for it to work. You can sign into both on your android device and switch between them in the google play store, its quite fluid and simple.
If you go to https://accounts.google.com and go to more options->create account, and do everything as if you were in the UK, then sign in on the phone (settings->accounts, no need to sign out existing google account you can sign into both at the same time) and go to play store and choose UK as region under the new account, you should be able to search and download the app from there. When you are all done, you should be able to go to play store, click on the 3 lines (hamburger menu) in the top left corner, and there will be a drop down to switch between the 2 accounts. If I need to be more detailed let me know, I could do a thing with screenshots if need be. Cheers |

Re: First Direct banking on the go app
I'm going to try it. Not the Hamburger menu: the google account thing.
Thank you Gozit PS: I can't find "more options" ... Got it I needed to be on the phone not the laptop! |
