Finally sent my application off under the new simplified process

Just wanted to know how long before i receive a receipt of acknowledgement?

Well done, welcome to the queue!

Apparently you're supposed to get acknowledgement in 28 days (I think 'working' days so weekends not included).

Sent ours on 8th Sept and nothing back yet, will expect something in a couple of weeks maybe?

:) well done on completing the forms. If they are like the ones we had to go through they were a nightmare. I must be a relief for you. :)

Hi there,

Good Luck, we are hopefully going to be sending our off in the next few weeks, my hubby and i are from the UK but will be applying from New Zealand, we moved here 3 years ago and now have deceided that we really want to be in Canada, but we opted for a quicker route out of the UK, although we love New Zealand, beautiful country friendly people, its very very expensive to live, travel and well we are now going to hopefully relocate again to Canada, that was our first choice and its where our heart lies.

Plus alot of the family cant afford to get over to see us as much as they would like, so another plus for Canada is relatives visiting and friends, plus in emergencies my hubby will be able to get back to the UK quicker.

Well will keep you posted, sorry if i went on a bit,

Ours have gone too - that queue does seem interminably long though ... sigh.

Canada is no cheap gig and apart from your families flight cost to and from here, I cant really see much savings.
Out of the main English speaking expat locations; US, Canada, Aus & NZ,
I was always under the impression that NZ was the "cheapest?"

Not where we live it isnt, its safe and beautiful, we could give that up and move somewhere cheaper to live but nz has a lot of gangs and crime related areas, but we live in the south isl and proberly the most expensive place in new zealand, shania twain has just brought a large chunk of our town.

But its not just cost of living, there are alot of things involved, we live 5 hours from the nearest univercity, so kids have to move to dunedin, and we have to pay there board/lodge, food and the costs are rather large, also there are more opportunities for the kids in canada than NZ, we didnt realise just how remote from the rest of the world we are.

hi i sent my form off 1 sept got my confirmation through yesterday good news on that but letter states they will begin processing our application 45 months :mad: there must be only 1 person doing the visas because that is a joke met some one who's going oz done the full process in 6 months does make me think if i should look else where 45 months is a bit of a piss take :(

Totally agree with this

Canada is on a level par with UK prices, so please dont wear blinkers when you come here.

Houses and cars are cheaper, MMMM thats about it !!!

Been here 2 weeks and it is much of a muchness with regards shopping etc !!!
