Filing taxes for first time

Does anyone know how long it takes CRA to process my tax rebate (it's my first time filing, did them on turbotax then printed them off & posted them in) , i sent them in nearly four weeks ago.I called them a few days back & after being passed around from operator to operator i was told to call back in May if i hadn't received my refund! :frown:

Re: Filing taxes for first time

Two or three months for a paper return.

Once you have done it the slow way once you can "efile" in future years, then the rebate is in your account in a couple of weeks.

Think it took us a couple months last year to get rebate and it was the first filing for us

With this being your first one, I wouldnt expect to hear quickly.

Last year was my first filing, and although filing late (June/July) I didnt receive my return until December. Apparently (and they've probably told you this already), there are a huge number of searches and checks etc they have to do on your first time and it takes ages. They estimate 20 weeks....

No, they never mentioned anything about checks/searches etc just to keep calling back, what are these checks/searches that take sooooo long?

Didn't take us that long to get our refund and it was our first year, just took us about 2 months to get the cheque in the post
