Good job I love 'im!
Oh! we did a last minute trip to mountains with stepson who refused to stay in a tent, so not many Inns with room left as it was last minute - 2 nights accommodation topped $600 - we could have had luxury tents for that :D I am just looking forward to finishing work on Fridays and being in the mountains round a fire by late supper time. |

Re: An expensive trip to Calgary
[QUOTE=mushroom]Hi all,
me and hubby spent 10days in calgary last nov/dec and went to the zoo ( go on the train as it actually stops at the zoo its self, you just walk of the platform right in to the entrance (weird) its fantastic and the food they do is great too. we also did the tower, an absolute must. we also suprisingly for us did the glenbow museum, beautifully laid out and when we were there they had the PETRA show on. we also drove (easy and took just over an hour if i remember) to Banff and went up the cable car (again an absolute must and very memorable). we finally did the olympic park and it was far better than we imagined and we subsequently enjoyed the winter olympics on tv much much more and realised how dangerous it really is. you will not be disapointed in calgary and do use the C-TRAIN and +15 |

Re: An expensive trip to Calgary
Hi, We took both our children to Calgary Zoo when we were out there back in Feb 05. They were 11 and 9 at the time and both really enjoyed it - even though it was absolutely freezing. There was a lot to see so be prepared to make a day of it. Have a good trip. :)

We've been all over with this improbable arrangement; Nova Scotia, Colorado, Pacific Coast Highway, Florida Keys. We cheat a bit though, on long trips we stay in motels along the highway rather than camping for single nights.

We have a Camaro Z28 for the summer here and that's got a decent size boot and t'tops - I really can't get the picture out of my head of tent, kids, dogs, knees up by your ears in a Mustang Convertable! :D
I'll see if I have any car loaded up pictures. |
Re: An expensive trip to Calgary
It's remarkable what you can fit in some cars' trunks.
I remember a camping trip to France BC (before children) in our MGB roadster. One small campsite near Angouleme, when we stopped some dear lady came trotting up and said we looked like newly-weds (actually we were not-yet-weds, but didn't admit to the fact :p ) and was there anything we needed as we were obviously travelling light and she had some spare chairs etc..... So nice! We thanked her politely and then started unloading,.... pulling out tent, table, chairs, gas stove, airbed and all the other paraphanalia that makes camping more comfortable, ... all the while trying not to laugh as her eyes got bigger and bigger! :D |

Some pictures from various camping trips in the Mustang; Cape Breton, North Shore of Superior, Long Point. The water bottle's a problem, big awkward and prone to leaking; everything else fits fine.

If push comes to shove, we can carry the same stuff.
