Anyone heard any predictions of how the £ and $ are going to do over the coming months ?
Can't seem to find anything on the usual sites.

Either up or down would be my guess....

There is a very long running exchange rate thread where there may be other more educated opinions... It rather quaintly starts "Damn, its down to $2.25 now"...that gives an idea how long its been running, over 2500 posts.

It'll get to $1.25 by the end of the year. Put your house on it.

Perhaps I should edit the original in order to more accurately reflect the truth and protect you from yourself:lol:.

I noted with interest the hopelessly inaccurate opinion of a poster by the handle "notiaink...honest" in saying that a 2.07 is was bound to go up again sooner or later. What a load of ignorant tosh, whoever that poster is should be ashamed of themselves.:D

But I understood that it was OK if it is two different people using the same computer, which this is clearly the case.

Now all you have to do is find him. :p

Re: Exchange rate prediction

Purchasing power parity suggests that GBP is currently undervalued vs. CAD. Unless there is a sustained bout of high inflation in GBP that suggests that, at some point, the value of the pound will rise again. I wouldn't care to speculate when that would be or whether it fall before it goes up again but, if you have no short term (1-3 year) need to transfer money, it most likely makes sense to wait and see. That's what I plan to do btw, so I am putting my money where my mouth is.
