Engineering Jobs in Canada
 

Hi,

I now have residency for Canada for me & my family, I did have a job to go to also, however with the recession it got cancelled in January. Since then I have been looking for something else but it's so hard remotely.

I'd really love to get into Oil & Gas, but my background is automotive & defence. I have managed to find another job in the UK for now as a PM in a large defence company - but I'm itching to come across to Canada.

I'm a chartered, graduate Engineer with 16 years of good industry behind me, anyone got any good ideas?

Do you fancy a switch into mass transit and transportation? Its very similar to defence and automotive and with plenty of new and exciting challenges.

I've got 1 friend in GeoTech who's rushed off his feet.

Another friend is in Environmental who's also quite busy - not sure if there's the same level of demand - oh and if you want Environmental you'd better be prepared to go to the BC boondocks and got tramping. She often spends a week out someplace collecting samples.

Are your qualifications recognised under the Washington or Sydney Accord?

I'm willing to consider anything new really - but I'm just looking for something that can offer a sustained challenge. Maybe it's the terminology, but I don't really understand what is meant by 'mass transit'. Are you in this area?

Yes - I checked this out. Because I'm Chartered with the IMechE (institute of Mechanical Engineers) & the Engineering Council of the UK, the Washington Accord means that all the State Engineering governing bodies (APEGGA etc...) will recognise my qualifications. Do you have any good ideas or connections I should post my resume to? Thanks for the response.

GeoTech is really a different skillset - shame as it seems to be in demand. The Environmental is definately a growth area, but again seems to require a more science based background rather than engineering as such. Thanks for the response though - any more ideas welcomed!
