Default Employment advice (legal) needed

Hoping someone could maybe offer a bit of advice as to how best to deal with an employment issue we have had.

Long story short but, my wife has been told that she has verbally resigned from her job by her boss, and subsequent appeals to the board etc have been unsuccessful resulting in her losing her job. The ROE sent says she quit, although she has no recollection or ever any intentions of doing this.

It was massive shock and out of the blue, surely employers cannot just tell you that they accept your resignation as a way of easily getting rid of people.

We have put in a claim with the labour standards board but don't hold out much hope. We have tried to claim EI temporarily, but Service Canada say that as she resigned it will not be granted. Obviously she did not resign but was fired without cause.

Any advice on where we can go from here would be great

Don't give up with the labour standards as they are your most likely source of redress. You can also appeal the EI decision , but only have a 30 day window- so get going.
