I think I read I can download everthing from my bt to hard drive. So guess I will do that before I end my bt internet service. Then I will just keep it on disc or maybe upload it all to my gmail email.

As I understand it GMail is no longer invite only you can just sign-up.

I still pay 4.99 a month (lowest possible package) to my UK ISP to keep my website and email addresses. I think I've had the same address since about 1994, so I couldn't be bothered to change it. Worth every penny to me.

I just downgraded online, very easy, direct debit continues from my UK account as before.

Hiya,

I use Yahoo for my email, similar to Hotmail etc.

It means i can access it from any computer anywhere that has access to t'internet.

I tend to wipe/reload/fiddle with my computers a fair bit so its one less thing to configure again

+ its free !!

We cancelled our BT broadband when we left 2 years ago but continue to pay 1.50UKP per month for our email addresses. Although a lot of ISPs will stop you using Outlook etc if you are not on their domain there is often an alternative port which can be used. This is the case with BT and we continue to download our emails as usual to Outlook Express even though we are now with a Caandian ISP
