Eloping In Banff, Need flights from Toronto

Hi all,

Me and my fiance are eloping in Banff in September this year, and we'll be flying from staying with family in Toronto. Now, we just need to find out the best place for cheap flights from Toronto Pearson International to Calgary International (September the 21st depart and return 25th, give or take...) does anybody know where?

Thanks in advance!

There are no cheap internal flights in Canada, mores the pity.

Good luck anyway.

You have 2 choices, Air Canada and Westjet, they generally price nearly identical unless there happens to be a sale.

Keep an eye on their websites, Westjet has more frequent sales, and blue tag Thursdays (provided no other sale is going on) happen at 2pm MST which can see some lower fares.

What about the Via Rail train instead? They have deals quite often (and a train journey could be quite romantic, certainly memorable).

I second the train if you have the time. I did it Toronto to Vancouver, and its a most awesome experience and trip. 100% recommend it.

I did it in coach, but I imagine a sleeper or berth is even nicer experience.

I'd like to do an experiment with someone's help. I clicked on that link about 20 minutes ago and the one-way price on offer was $199. Then went to see the prices on other dates later in the year and found very much higher prices, so I then rechecked your link to make sure that senility hadn't taken a sudden leap forward for me, and the price I saw this time is $237 each way.

I think via rail are doing what I've heard discount travel sites do, which is to dump a cookie when you check a price and then use the cookie to increase it the next time thereby trying to panic you into a purchase.

So the experiment is for someone who hasn't checked your link already to do it and report the price they're offered.

Just did that.

$237 is the price that comes up on the list.
Cheap seats all gone then.

Damn, so much for my conspiracy theory. Thanks for the help: science will be forever in your debt.

Ok, let's not drift the thread too much. There's a pair of young lovers to consider.

Ha.

At the risk of increasing the thread drift you can check your theory by trying a different browser . chrome or Firefox is using IE for example

I always thought eloping was something done on the spur of the moment, and not something planned for 6 months time. In that case they should really be saying we are going to Banff to get married in 6 months time, with something as planned as it curently seems to be, it isn't really an elopement, unless one of them is currently underage and that is why there is this planning.

Does one not elope "to" , rather than "in"?

Theres far too many rules and regulations for old style spur of the moment elopements, in uk alone you need 2 weeks notice from declaring at the registry office before any marriage, and they need full details of when and where. We are elopng as in no one else will be there. And neither is underage, but thanks for checking.

Trains were a nice idea, but tough to get the destinations, and tickets were similar price to a return flight alltogether...
