eligable to work in canada, please tick
Does anyone know what this means exactly.whenever i fill out application forms for job positions, its says "are you eligable to work in Canada?" Does this mean,am i eligable to apply for a work permit to work in Canada,or are they asking me if i have a work permit?

Hi
It means that you are either a citizen, permanent resident or have an open work permit.

It means if they offered you the job right now, you'd be legally entitled to start it in 2 minutes time.

It is the Employers responsibility to check that all employees are legally allowed to work in Canada.
It is an offense for an Employer to employ a person who is not entitled to work in Canada.

In your case you would have to answer the question as NO.

This highlights that you need a different approach if you want to get work in Canada. The wiki is a great place to start: http://britishexpats.com/wiki/Canada_is_different!!!
