Well I'd call Peterborough central.

Word of advice to the OP: look at www.ec.gc.ca for "climate norms" for your target towns. Barrie for example is in the lake effect snow belt...you should know what this implies before making a choice!

Also when looking "north", find out about mozzies.

We are moving to wasaga beach area in december
Barrie is going to be getting a high speed rail link to toronto very soon. This means one that the town will grow, but is also going to be good for employment prospects ie if you want to work in toronto the commute will be a lot easier.

Good luck on your move, keep in touch to let us know what you decide

Regards

Steve

I suspect this is wishful thinking, nowhere else has a high speed rail link to Toronto.

hi Davek, consider Waterloo Region, it lies between the "snowbelt" north of Toronto(Barrie etc) and the southern snowbelt of London area.
A major thing when you have six months of winter, with driving etc.or if you work outdoors.
Cambridge has grown from 83,000 in 1986 to 112,000 presently.
A smalltown atmosphere, lots of light industry /Hitech work opportunities.
Its called "The Festival Region" with good cause.
There must be something to attract so many people to the area.
Only one and a half hrs drive from Niagara and the U.S. for trips.
best of luck wherever you decide. Scouse

Hi guys

i actually read about it on a realtors website but i can't remember which one, but a google canada search brought up a load of pages about it here is one that i found
http://www.livinggreen.info/library/...for_barrie.cfm

Most seem to agree around 2008 is the proposed completion date, seems a little optimistic to me
