DVDs
Is it worth keeping UK DVDs ? I know the region thing can be circumvented on some players with certain hacks and what-not ..
but what of the format .. PAL/NTSC .. I know that Canada uses NTSC, but does equipment generally come PAL compatible, or is it only specialist equipment that'll play and display PAL stuff ? 15th July. Here I come. Will. |
Re: DVDs
I'm taking mine because I'll be able to play them on my computer at the very least.

Most run of the mill AV stuff is just NTSC, although you can get dual NTSC/ PAL stuff at the expensive end of the market. Some folks bring over their old TV / VCR/ DVD player and run them off a transformer so they can watch PAL format stuff and retain their existing collections. Iain |
take them we did,
we bought our uk dvd player because it was dual voltage and multi system, we bought the kids a $29 dvd player and went on line to get a region hack to make it so it played all dvd´s |
Buying New Ones
good enough for me .. in fact I don't think they do "Two Pints.." and Black Books in NTSC anyway, and I want to get them before I go ;)
cheers for the responses folks ! Will. |
Hi
may be of interest. I've just picked up a portable 7'' DVD player from e-bay which is great for the kids in the car/plane etc which is region free and PAL/NTSC compliant. Can also be used for MP3s/CDs all for £170. Take your DVDs. Just an aside,i thought nearly all DVDs we released either at the same time or in the Americas first but i was after the 3rd season of West Wing,it's available here but not over there,so Multi region has got to be worth it. mike |
