Driving Licence Predicament
I completed my canadian driving test back in the 90's to I think a G1 or G2? (I did not complete the last bit - i.e. had 5 yrs I think to do motorway test), but I returned to the U.K.
I am now considering returning to Ontario and understand I only have to take my UK license in (had for 30 yrs) & exchange for Ontario licence.
However, of course the latter being subject to never having had an Ontario driving license.
In a bit of a quandry - how can I get about if I have to start at the beginning with Ontario license OR can I just take my UK license in (as not been to Ontario for many, many years) and swap it as is? If anyone could throw any light/advice my way, I would be very appreciative. Thank you

I don't think this is a problem. Your old Ontario license will have expired by now. Since there is now a reciprocity agreement with both GB & NI (note there is no UK license - GB & NI are administered separately and have their own reciprocity agreements with foreign governing bodies), you should be able to simply exchange your GB or NI license for an Ontario license.

Gosh. That seems easy. Really puts my mind at rest. Thank you so much

Regardless of reciprocity provisions, Ontario might have a law/provision allowing you to re-gain an ON license if you had one before. Especially if you kept a valid non-Canadian licence.

It has a provision but it's not mandatory. However, after the license has been expired for 10+ years, you are treated as a brand new driver. The OP should be able to exchange a GB/NI license without any problems.
