Driving Licence exchange - UK - CAD (Alberta)

Hey guys,

I am moving to Canada in October and am trying to get organised before I leave the UK!

I am a bit confused over exchanging my driving Licence and could use some advice.

I had to renew my UK driving licence earlier this year so the date on it says something along the lines of valid from 2017 expires 2027.

In this case, how do I show two years driving experience? (here I have assumed that holding the licence for greater than two years is sufficient, correct me if wrong!).

Can I use something like insurance no claims bonuses?

I did try checking the Alberta province site for information, it wasn't so helpful.

Thanks!
Steve

IIRC the paper part gives the information required

You could also get a drivers extract from the DVLA - https://www.gov.uk/view-driving-lice...-ways-to-apply

Definitely obtain proof of no claims on insurance as well, it may help to reduce the costs - while this is for BC, it details the information gnenerally required. Car Insurance in BC : British Expat Wiki

Good luck with your move!

Thanks guys, thats fantastic information!

Ill grab a DVLA extract, as apparently they no longer give the paper part of the driving licence and I may have lost mine a while back... ;)

Cheers,
Steve

The back of the licence has the original date you passed your test.

This. That's all they looked at.
