Dogs - number of....

Hi,

We are moving to Toronto in August and while looking for a place to live have noticed that some of the surrounding towns/cities have animal by-laws restricting the number of dogs/cats you can own.

Some state 2 or 3 as the limit, my question is...

I have 3 labrador dogs so does that mean I cannot move into a town like Guelph who seem to have a 2 dog limit or does it not apply to people moving into the area with existing animals ??

Thanks,
Chris

we are in alberta, so not sure if the law is different

We are allowed 2 dogs, if we want anymore then we have to apply for a speacial licence.
why not get in contact with the local council and ask if this is the case??
The rule will apply to you, just like all residents in the area, they do not give special permission to a newcomer...........soz

Here in Edmonton, you are allowed upto 3 dogs (and 6 cats) within the city area. Outside the city you can have more.

I, myself have 3 dogs. If you have more than the limit, you will have to apply for a kennel permit. :)

There is no restriction in Calgary, but you do have to licence the dogs within 48 hours of arriving in the City.

In Okotoks if you have 4 or more dogs over 3 months you need to apply for a Dog Fancier Licence and then buy a separate licence for each dog.

You will find the licence is much cheaper if the dog is spayed or neutered.
