Dog Kennel size
Hi
So a quick question: If my dog is height 18", Length 23" and width 7" (American Cocker Spaniel) will a Vari Kennel Traditional Medium IATA Airline Approved Dog Carrier Size L x W x H (Inches) - 27 x 20 x 19 be big enough? Is it all about the head clearance as she looks fine in it but with bedding she could touch the roof. Has anyone ever been turned away at the airport?????? we are flying her DIY through Air Transat in January on same flight as us. and all the Pet export companies seem to think she needs a bigger kennel..... First hand experience advise would be great.. I have just spent the afternoon reading every post on here about pet flights and this particular question was nowhere to be found.. Thanks so much Sauspop |

Re: Dog Kennel size
I would definatley go for the bigger crate as well its not worth the risk and your dog will be much more comfortable on a long journey :)

Re: Dog Kennel size
Thank you for your post sauspop, it was something thats been worrying me- and good luck! It's a bloody nightmare isn't it? I have a Cairn terrier, and then three cats that range from cute and fluffy to bloody gianourmous. I have had great big wooden crates before (I had to hire a minibus to get them from the airport) and am delighted that you can now buy the things ready made.

Re: Dog Kennel size
We flew out last year with our Border Terrier & cat DIY with Air Canada - this may be of help to you http://www.aircanada.com/en/travelin...gage/pets.html
The dog needs to be able to stand up, turn around & lie down, so obviously not too small but not to big either as a pet will feel more secure than if it's too large. We used Vari Kennels for both but got them off ebay as much cheaper http://www.dog--cages.co.uk/ All the best with the move :) |
