Dog to Fly ..... Zoom Code & Option
Hey All
Can someone confirm is Zoom the only airline now to take pets and if so does anyone have a discount code for them. Cheers Rob |
Re: Dog to Fly ..... Zoom Code & Option
Air Canada allow you to take your pets as excess baggage as long as the combined weight of them and the container does not exceed 32kgs.
Just phone them for more info. Its costing us £125 (ish) Jay |
Re: Dog to Fly ..... Zoom Code & Option
A possible solution would be to sell the dog, and buy a new one over here.

Re: Dog to Fly ..... Zoom Code & Option
Airtransat do still take animals on their flights but you have to use an agent. HOWEVER, the agent they use is called Clipper Marketing (will try to get the number if you want) and they seem to know what they're doing and they are cheaper than using someone like Ladyhay, etc. Have just booked our 5 dogs and 1 cat with them - unfortunately AT only allow 5 animals per flight therefore cat has to fly by herself on the next flight but the 5 dogs are all going on the same flight as us!
Good luck! |

Good luck! When I called them last week they said they do not transport animals on any of their flights which depart or connect in the UK: http://www.canadianaffair.com/en/use...luggage.asp#B1 Animals Carriage of live animals is not permitted on Thomas Cook Airlines or Air Transat.. (unless this means on Board as in the Cabin????) Cheers Dave |
Re: Dog to Fly ..... Zoom Code & Option
Air Transat used to allow animals on as excess baggage (in the hold) but they stopped doing that last year. You can still fly them in the cargo hold but you have to go via Cargo - if you call up the number I gave earlier (Clipper) they are the company that Air Transat use to transport animals.
It's easier if you go to the Air Transat website as opposed to Canadian Affair website I think. Good luck!

It's easier if you go to the Air Transat website as opposed to Canadian Affair website I think. Good luck! I did and still a bit confused as this is what it says which I resume refers to N.America as further down it mentions not transporting animals in or out of UK and this is what they told me last week. If they do then it is good news for us even though it involves pet transportation company as you mentioned. Many thanks for all your help and info mch appreciated. Will have to now work out if cheaper this way or via Air Canada with higher ticket price but lower animal price.....:confused: PETS AND SERVICE ANIMALS Your pet We would like to remind you that no animals are allowed in the cabin with passengers with the exception of service animals (conditions apply, see below). Only cats and dogs are accepted as animals for carriage in the cargo hold. All other animals are refused on all Air Transat flights. Passengers must be in possession of all animal-related documents required by the country of destination (consult your travel agent). Advanced notification If you are travelling with dogs and/or cats, you must reserve with Air Transat at least 72 hours prior to departure by phoning our Call Centre at 1-877-TRANSAT (872-6728) or locally in the Montreal region 514-636-3630. People who are hearing impaired can call 1-866-234-5136 (TTY) toll free within North America or 514-906-5196 in the local Montreal area. In Europe, please dial 00 800 87 26 72 81. This will ensure that the maximum number of pets per aircraft has not been exceeded. Passengers arriving at the airport who have not made arrangements in advance may be subject to denial of carriage of the animal. Important notice Please be aware that Air Transat (in accordance with its AVIH program) does not transport Pit bulls. The carriage of this breed of dog will not be permitted under any circumstances. There are already some countries/territories that do not allow entry to this type of dog, or that do not permit ownership of these breeds. This ban includes the following breeds: http://www.airtransat.ca/images/cro.gifAmerican Staffordshire Terrier http://www.airtransat.ca/images/cro.gifBoerbulls http://www.airtransat.ca/images/cro.gifStaffordshire Bull Terrier http://www.airtransat.ca/images/cro.gifAmerican Pit Bull Terriers http://www.airtransat.ca/images/cro.gifMastiff http://www.airtransat.ca/images/cro.gifTosa We would like to remind you that no animals of any kind are accepted on flights going to, from or connecting in the United Kingdom (except service animals – see below). Animals are also not accepted on flights going to or connecting in Ireland (cargo only) or Jamaica. |
Re: Dog to Fly ..... Zoom Code & Option
When I looked into Air Canada it was VERY expensive to fly the dogs with us - nearly £5k!! With AT it's costing us less than £2k for all of the animals!!
Hope you manage to get the info you need! |
Re: Dog to Fly ..... Zoom Code & Option
just to let you know we have brought two dogs recently with air transat you do have to ring the this number in I think its toronto 01 877 8726728 ask for clubclass reservations then say you want to book your pet you should then be able to book at a cost £125.00. They email confirmation to you. By the way I have taken this information from my pet invoice so should be right.
you cannot book a pet through any london office. also I had a pet passport done for each of my dogs and they accepted that in London, Canada and USA with out any problems. I hope this helps. |

Do you have to buy a clubclass ticket though for yourself How did you make the booking: Online then call to book pets Book pets first then book online Or did you just book it all at the sametime over the phone on the number you gave. Was there any stipulation ref max weight (i.e. A.Canada say max 32Kl incl crate) Sorry for all the Q's We will also be bringing 2 dogs TA |
Re: Dog to Fly ..... Zoom Code & Option
ok like you I was told no dogs they had to go cargo and then got chatting to a guy who had just brought his over.
You have to book via canadian side you have to pay in $cnd not uk £ when going through the dreadful answer phone system you press the number for club or upgrade and then tell them you want to book a pet they should be able to do it from there, they only take five pets at a time so I would book my pets on before booking my flight. As we confirmed our pets booking we booked our flights on line so as to be on the same flight. They do stop taking pets at certain times of year due to extream weather but our pets were really well taken care of at gatwick. Also we found a company that supplies pet cargo recommend carriers at a fraction of the price of the shops they are a wholesale company but will sell to individuals. I think they are made by hagen we also bought our pets the liners which are brilliant they keep them warm when its cold and cool if it gets hot, they also came with wheels which is handy for around the airport if you want the details let me know anything else just email me by the way sorry to ramble. |

Re: Dog to Fly ..... Zoom Code & Option
Hi Davie
the company is called SMYLEE PETS they have 2 phone numbers 08452 607160 or 01953 861266 they retail at about half the price of any where else. Also don't take any dog food or biscuits with you, I have known people to get into trouble for this. Just do what we did buy them Mcdonalds when you get off the plane. Good luck. Sandra |

Re: Dog to Fly ..... Zoom Code & Option
When I spoke to Air Canada I was quoted over £4700 this was because I wanted to transport FIVE dogs and ONE cat (SIX animals) They wouldn't let me take them as excess baggage as they said they don't do that so unless I spoke to someone who didn;t know what they were doing or it's different if all you're doing is transporting one animal I don't know, all I was doing was telling the OP what I was told. I did NOT speak to an agent to go through Air Canada.

I don't know where you got £5k from, its cost us £125 for our dog as excess baggage. I think all the 'agents' charge a fortune when it can be arranged yourselves.

I take it that code isn't for the transportation of dogs? Don't think (but don't quote me on this) that Zoom transport dogs they seem only to use certain agents who you have to go through. My dogs weigh about 45kg each and the crates probably weigh about the same (extra large airpet crates x 2). Anyone been in this situation and who did you use and how much did it cost? Can't seem to get to talk to anyone at Air Transat about transportation. Do the dogs have to travel on the same flight and I'm guessing that you have to be the other side after they arrive to do paperwork. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. |
