Hi All, I am currently waiting on my PR application to be processed here in Ontario Canada and have been here a year during which time i have been under a Visitors Visa with extensions and driving my own vehicle with a full Canadian drivers license and my own insurance. I recently passed my Bike license evaluation and am in the process of buying my first bike here.
My question is this: Does accidental health coverage that comes as part of any vehicle insurance (which apparently is law to have here in Ontario) to cover hospital and personal injury bills etc cover you if you are a non resident? My gut feel is yes as i am paying for the policy and have a full license but i do not know for sure.
I have been happily living here with no coverage for a year and it only really made me think about it given that i will be now riding a motor bike and at greater risk to personal damage so wanted to ensure i was covered and if not was going to take out some additional personal coverage.
Any help here would be great
Regards
Tony

I never understood the mandatory heath insurance clause. Have you asked your insurance company, they would be best informed on this surely?

I know my biking boss complains every year about the mandatory medical insurance when his policy comes up for renewal as he has OHIP and work benefits already...

I can see his point given that he has the free coverage as a resident but me being essentially a visitor I am hoping it will work in my favour and give me some coverage for automobile / bike accidents where current i have no other form over coverage.
