Do I need credential reports from each province?

After deciding to get my qualification 'recognised' by Canada I have discovered that different provinces have different companies that do this.

Is there not 1 company that I can pay that all provinces will recognise? I saw that IQAS is relevant to Alberta where I've applied for jobs in the health care sector already - however they have a 12-14 week wait:ohmy:
but I also wish to apply to BC and maybe other provinces too and have now seen that Ontario uses WES and that BC uses ICES.

Does this mean that I need to pay all of them! or do you think that if I got an IQAS that other provinces would recognise it?

Has any other posters applied for jobs in different provinces with just 1 credential report? or did you have to get numerous ones for different provinces?

Sorry - just to add - I have already sent an email to a couple of credential companies to ask but wondered if any of you could help answer while I wait for their replies:)

Yes, and if you are considering applying as a Federal Skilled Worker (with or without a job) then you need to use one of the designated credential assessment bodies - see the ink from CIC below.

You might find using the government websites useful for this - there is lots of information on how to get your credentials recognised.

Hi
I am in BC working with children with autism. I got my degree sent to IQAS in Alberta and they were happy with that for the college here in BC.

Thanks once again Siouxie!

I do live in Canada already as a permanent resident. The whole credential thing has confused me I'll admit! I'm just hoping that 1 piece of paper would say that I have an equivalent of a Canadian degree but it seems so expensive to apply to every province just for recognition. Still I suppose the rules are the rules even if they're going to leave me broke!

Thanks JackandVictor,

Thats encouraging. I was going to send off for IQAS but the website is saying it's taking around 12-14 weeks! How long did your report take to come back from them?

Re: Do I need credential reports from each province?

It's been a couple of years since I sent mine to them but I think it was about 10-12 weeks. I was disappointed that all it said was exactly what my transcripts listed! I think all they did was to check that my uni was a bona fide one!
At least it proved my degree was equivalent to a Canadian one and that's all that I required!

Thanks for replying - yes I can imagine you being dissapointed! - exactly what you had in the first place but now with the extra words of saying it is equivalent. Oh dear!
I'm actually thinking maybe I should try another company that doesn't take as long. Here in Manitoba I have already phoned the lady about it but I am unable to get it done unless a potential employer asks them to do it. Oh this is frustrating!

I'm sorry, I didn't realise you already had PR.

I would suggest though looking at the CIC website as the organisations they list are recognised throughout Canada for credential assessment.

:)

No problem. I'll have another look at the site as I thought that they all were recognised throughout Canada as it gives their recommendations of sites they use but then individual provinces seem to have their own site that they prefer.

I'll see if it makes more sense tomorrow:)
