Default Do I need to bring my medical records from UK?

Just what the title says really, do I really need a copy of my medical records with me in Canada? and what for?

I don't have any particular medical history. My wife does and she is on prescription medication that she will need to renew once we are there. Does she need to bring a copy of her records or will copies of letters from her specialists that describe her medical issue and medication will suffice as proof?

I'm not sure if Canadian GPs use any foreign medical records or they just rely on what your medical history is and prescribe you accordingly (or are ok to continue with your previous prescriptions).

Anyone had experience of that?

It's advised to, yes. If you've not found it already, this Wiki article has lots of useful info on things to do before leaving - https://britishexpats.com/wiki/Depar...(UK_to_Canada)

I'm not sure that Canadian doctors always prescribe the same medication as the doctor in the UK has done ............ so that might something to be prepared for.

You also presumably know that you will have to pay for all medications, unless you have an exceptionally good plan with your employer OR a good Extended Health Insurance

Also be aware that depending on where in Canada you live, you may or may not be able to get onto the books of a 'family doctor' (GP). I live in London, ON and there is very little chance. We simply use the same walk-in clinic.

It was easy and cheap to get hold of our medical records while in the UK so we got them just in case.

Haven’t needed them yet but at least we have them!
