Yes, Canadians definitely need a work permit to work in UK.

But if you're under 25 you can apply for a working holidaymaker visa (or at least you used to be able to, I did it a few years ago), which is quicker and allows you to work and travel through the UK.

They have actually raised the age limit to 30. Go to www.swap.ca

Yep! I'm currently working in the U.K with a working visa from SWAP. Really easy to get if you're under 30.....it allows you to live in the U.K for 2 years, but you can only work for 1 year.

Just like any other citizen of any country needs to go through CIC to live and work in Canada, you as a Canadian citizen need to go through the same wherever you go.
