disscusion (Alberta)

2 thing that i think about in alberta
1. why they dont have a front number plate
2. no MOT or vehical test the only one they have is an insurance test at 12 years. so i think there are a lot of unsafe cars and trucks out there

also the number plate thing how can you identify a car from the front?

... and putting a number plate on the front wouldn't help to identify a car from the side.

The govt of Alberta abandoned the front number plates some years ago apparently to save money on producing the number plates.

Re: disscusion (Alberta)

Rear number plates are also not always visible in the winter as they get covered in snow. We hang fluffy dice from our rearview mirror to identify our car (and also try to remember where we parked it:eek:)

There are many many unsafe cars here, bald tyres, no brakes, rusted frames. I for one would quite like to see a safety test here but maybe one more involved than the safety that exists at the moment, which is about as good as checking it has four wheels and a hooter:eek::eek:

Nor from above or below, and who remembers a string of letters and numbers anyway? No, if cars are to be identifiable they each need to be painted a different colour or combination of colours. "It was the yellow one with the giraffes".

There's a recent discussion over on the France forum about ANPR, which apparently means Automatic Number Plate Recognition.

I bet it's not programmed for giraffes yet. A market niche for your software empire to exploit?

I'm not sure we can do giraffes in French but I'm in Quebec this week, I'll ask.

It's a particularly tricky bit of translation.
