different words used??
So moving to canada in 3 weeks, was wondering what different words they use to us??
Like shopping centre is a mall, cot is a crib and also if any words that are used in u.k are used in a different context in canada?
Sorry if this is a silly question?!?

Re: different words used??
And the spelling of a Tire is a Tire here. And if you get tired then that's also tire.
Woollen hat= Tuque
Nappy=Diaper
Car Exhaust=Muffler
Car bonnet=Hood
Car Boot=trunk
Petrol=gas (Gas is just Gas tho)
Spanner=wrench
Adjustable spanner=monkey wrench
Bum is Fanny. This is always funny. In the UK we have Bum bags, here it's a Fanny pack. :@)

Median
We were never poncey enough to have a lounge, we had a living room, which is sometimes called the family room here.
Braces are what you have on your teeth, suspenders hold your pants up, garter belts hold your stockings up. Or is that hose? Tights are panty hose, gross words. Bras are called by their full (teehee) name, brassiere which is pronounced brazear.
Remember to roll your 'r's when asking for the porn shop or you will be directed to the pawn shop.

Forget all your school French when ordering a croissant. This officially bilingual French-speaking country does NOT call it a "CWAH-songg", they call it a "kru-SONTT".
