Hi, can anyone please give advice, we are looking to start the ball rolling to finally move to nova scotia but are unsure who to go with eg. lawyer or other organisation. Would appreciate any advice. Thanks.

Hello, Diane, and welcome to the BE forum.

I strongly recommend against deciding right away whether or not you will use an immigration lawyer or immigration consultant. Get yourself up to speed with immigration procedures by reading this website first.

The best thing to do is brew yourself a pot of tea (a mere cup won't do the trick), and read the Canada section of the British Expats Wiki. The main Canada page of the Wiki, to which I have provided you with a link, has links to the four articles that are the most important ones to read when you're first familiarizing yourself with Canadian immigration. After that, at your leisure, you can read the rest of the over 300 Wiki articles on Canada. But those first four will help you with your initial learning curve.

As Judy has said the wiki has lots of info to help.

Whether to use a lawyer is purely an individual choice, although from previous threads on BE a lot of people have gone it alone with the help and support from people on here and have put the $ to good use for a recce:thumbup:

It depends on individual circumstances and whether the application is straight forward in all aspects, as to whether you feel a lawyer would be beneficial.

p.s you can do a search of previous threads using the link at the top, if you enter something along the lines of immigration agencies, you should get some hits!

from experience, you dont really need a lawyer. Go thru the relevant web-sites and you can walk the walk.
