Devon to Canada - Maybe ?

Hi all,

Just joined the board, some great reading on here.
Were Karl & Rachel, live in Brixham, Devon. We've got our papers in, AOR 28th Feb 2006.Now sitting in the long queue, contrary to popular belief of us Brits, I am one Brit who hates queuing, but I do like a bit of moaning though.
We were focused on Ontario, but I hate the idea of not living by the sea, so thinking Nova Scotia might be the place.

Ah only another 2-4 years to wait. Good luck to everyone else trying to make it.

Cheers all

Do you prefer the sea or just living near water? There's plenty of lakes in Ontario but they don't taste salty.

Hi

We're all off to do the landing thing in Feb and then move out to BC in July, we live near Ashburton. Had a phone interview today so things are looking up, just have to sell the house now!

Hi
I'm thinking novia scotia too, for same reasons, tho' I've got young kids and I'm wondering what they would do. Particularly the young teen, and she wants to be a tennis or sports coach when she's older, not sure if she would have many opportunities.
good luck with it all.

Waiting is our favourte pastime (we all have certificates now) , closely followed by 'being really helpful', and occasionally finished off with 'having a moan' !! So Welcome to the site !! :p

Thanks for the welcome.

Comnurse not sure about the kids thing as we don't have any ?. Rachel did nurse someone on the ward though who said Novie was for retiring to, he'd lived in Canada for 30 odd years before coming back. I'm sure there are just as many people who will tell you the opposite though.

We've not actually been to Novie yet going in Sept.

We've been to Ontario about 5 times. I flunked a job interview last summer there, it was an outside chance mind. I'm a firefighter with 13 years in, it got me thinking I can't be doing with all the jumping through hoops and training school again. Time to get retrained and go in a new direction. So were going to take in Novie and see what we can get up to.

Cheers

Hi there.

I am a new comer to the site too. I am a Newfoundland girl born and bred and hope to move back later this year with my British husband and children.

My Dad is from Cape Breton and we spent many a summer there. I would imagine a move to CB would be a retirement haven but places like Halifax/Dartmouth are lovely.

I haven't been for several years but remember Halifax in particular as being very vibrant and fun but yet still keeping a small community feel.

Hi Karl & Rachel

I'm also from Devon (Newton Abbot) not far from you! We've had our application in Since March 2005. Just heard that 120 days from 20th December 2006 we will recieve a yes, no or be called for an interview:eek: . Its been a long wait and our life has been on hold for 2 years. Hopefully by April we'll know if we're going or staying. Fingers Crossed. We're looking at Alberta/BC area possibly a town called Golden.

Our families find it really hard to understand why it takes so long, but like you I HATE QUEUING & WAITING. Also the thought of not living near the sea not great, but i'm sure mountains and lakes will make up for it.

Good luck with your application

Lisa

Consider the Okanagan - it's like Kingsbridge with rednecks.

Nice pint from that pub with the stone floor opposite the Customs House ? Sitting outside of a warm summer evening watching the um 'tourists'. Never touched Union Street myself - too many lairy kebab houses for my taste not to mention Swilley types looking to fight grockles. Nice curries from the Barby area though specially that newer place, that must be the biggest curry house I ever set eyes on, must seat 250 peeps, the one located under that stationery store. Had a good few nights in Ivybridge. Got a good mate still in Avonwick, that old boozer there was always good times. Ship at Ugborough was tops too.

:D  good times

Rich.
