Re: Designer clothes in canada
Montreal is definitely really good for clothes, the people here dress much smarter than other parts of Canada. The styles are definitely european. They have some of the high end continental shops/labels, but there are a huge amount of smaller independant designers which make often nicer and more unique stuff. (I know all this from my other half). Prices seem to be about 10-20% less than UK prices (though true cost is different when earning dollars).
That said, NYC is pretty close too, and prices are way cheaper than here or the UK and there is much more selection.
Happy shopping.

Well i suppose the answer to my original question is that... Calgary is no use for clothes shopping and my best option is flying to the US to buy anything im looking for!
What about edmonton, is it any better up there??
I know they have an Abercrombie & Fitch shop there, so thats a start....

Funny story - girl in the place I work, got new D&G spectacles - and D&G is written on the legs in little diamante writing.
Young lady customer the other day asked her what D&G meant and to my horror and great amusement she replied - "I have no idea"
Nuff said about fashion in Canada

I agree Alison, I only have 2 designer things left with me now - couple of watches and a pair of nice Dior sunglasses. Even they have been replaced for a pair of $30 from Marks Work Warehouse.
To O/P I don't care how much you say you will live and die by your fashion (I know I was that person) after a couple of months over here your taste gradually changes and then before you know it you'll be wearing a short sleeved t shirt (no name) over a long sleeved t shirt (again no name) pair of jeans and some chunky boots.
(Edit to add still have Timberlands but they are not so much of a fashion statement more of a neccesity!!!)
If you like your named stuff - then go for Canada Goose / Helly Hansen / North Face in the winter (available widely) and either some nice Quicksilver or Roxy stuff for the summer, again widely available - job done!

Re: Designer clothes in canada
I must say the women in Montreal dress a hell of a lot better than here in Toronto.
Toronto is not known for fashion or good food, to be honest, I would have a hard time living in Toronto!

I just remember the first time I met my FIL. He came to meet us at the airport in Toronto wearing a white vest, a pair of tartan pajamas bottoms tucked into a pair of cowboy boots, topped of with a straw cowboy hat with an eagle feather sticking out of it. And yes he was driving a pick-up truck Thank god my OH was raised by his mother

I lived in Montreal for a year and a half my OH was born there and his family on his mum's side are all there. I can't say I enjoyed it but then I was too broke to afford nice clothes or good food and I don't speak any French.
