Dependent child defenitions
 

Hello all,

I wonder if anyone could advise me of any conditions that are attached to the
"DEPENDENT CHILD" definition as given on the CIC website.

I refer to the definition "UNDER 22 AND UNMARRIED"

My question is would a person in this position also have to be for example, unemployed and living at home with his parents and totaly financially dependent on them for everything from food to clothes and all living expenses etc ?

If he is in employment or lives at home only occasionally does that make a difference ?

Is there any limit on the amount of hours he can work or money he is allowed to earn, or is it simply as it says on the site "UNDER 22 AND UNMARRIED" in order to meet the definition of "DEPENDENT"

Fingers crossed it's as it says, under 22 and unmarried!
I either read in official bumpf or somebody confirmed this to be a short while ago because we are applying for PNP in NS for our whole family including a 19 yr old who has left college and is currently working...

It's under the age of 22 unless they have a spouse or common-law partner, that's the only thing would exclude them from my understanding.

Yes christmasoompa you are correct,

unless things have changed in the past 6 months this is what we were told by the PNP office here in BC as at the time of applying we had an 18 and 16yr old, had to supply documents for 18yr old but not 16yr old. both had to have medicals, pictures etc. Neither of them will ever be moving to canada.

Thank you, I had an awful feeling that the "dependent" child had to be completely dependent on you ie have no money of his own from work etc looks like I,m wrong and just as well as our 19 year old son is in full time employment.
