Seriously ??
I looked on the wiki and the 'The List' article still there. That has come as a surprise to me! Can you post any links to where I can read more about what you need to do now ? |
Re: Deciding between America and Canada.
Seems as though there is still a list.
You need to have a job offer in a specific field, so basically a list. No? |

Re: Deciding between America and Canada.
You can't decide on what people say because we all have our own opinions. I would suggest that you buy a plane ticket for the place you think you may like and come visit in January, February, or March. If you like it then, then you will probably like it year round. What do we do if it snows? We dig and dig and dig until we see our cars or the road. We must go to work whether it snows 1 inch or 5 feet. You didn't say what job you were looking for, just that is on the "list". What happens if the list gets updated or goes away before your apprenticeship is done? If you are going to be a doctor, then you are probably safe. If you are going into computers, electrician, or the more common employment areas then you really need to do your research for places that are hiring.
Toronto is expensive, has great night life, and has crime. One bed apt. will probably start at $1,000 for unfurnished and will be tiny, maybe 500 sq. ft. Utilities and other essentials are expensive. You can live in the burbs and it would be less but you need transportation to get into the city and of course, that costs too. If you have taken the city of Vancouver off your list then the other provinces are going to be much colder and so will the cities. Lots of snow, ice, heavy coats and such. Not sure why you cannot choose. It should be easy, whatever country lets you in after all is said and done. |

Personally I think he should stand in Peace Arch park and straddle the 49th parallel.

I think people primarily choose Canada because they can't get into the US. Given that, it seems odd to choose Vancouver for cheap housing, lack of rain and so on.

I've not seen a single compelling reason to go to Vancouver over other places in Canada but when you look at anything IEC related on the internet, kids are crawling over glass to go there.

These are some reasons I've heard cited by people I know who have moved there. Some people who have bought a flat there to use for half of the year would add "weather" but they're from Edmonton so they could use "weather" to explain moving almost anywhere. |
