any news on 'fly xpo'?

I avoid Canadian Affair wherever possible now plus AA & AC are cheaper on some routes. Canadian Affairs prices seem to go up each day - and their website syas more increases in April. Boycot me thinks

If you do check Air Canada too, just checked and their flights to Halifax from Heathrow are now cheaper than Canadian Affairs current rates (which go up in April according to their website) plus Air Canada have a choice of days and times you can fly - scheduled airline :-)

Also you can setup an alert in kayak.com to check flight prices and email you when certain prices/dates are met.

Unless anyone knows of any alternative cheap ways to get between UK and Canada?

On another interesting note, I was quoted $1075 on the website for a flight, and using some advice on here, due to the value of the pound, I contacted the London office for a quote and it was around 500 quid saving me over $300!
Could you give me more info on how you did this? Did you pay on a UK credit/debit card?

Thanks

I will check, but I'm travelling Manchester / Vancouver so I haven't in the past managed to find AC any cheaper, plus I need to change at least once.

Mine flights too, I flew Air Transcrap/Canadian affair once and plan never to use them again and have gone back to AC.

Transcrap have also now reduced the seat pitch in the Thomas Cook A330's to 32 inch, for a longhaul flight, thats not alot!!! If you book ahead with AC the seats aren't much dearer, and can be cheaper, (flying Man - Edmonton in June for £636 - and i don't need to arrange my own connecting flight) especially when you consider they are a point to point carrier so, depending on your destination, you need to book an internal flight.

Has anyone thought of flying into US airport and driving up? .... On our recce we flew into Boston and drove up into NB (cheaper than flying to Halifax and driving around to NB). The drive was a little longer, but saved us a fortune.

Air freight your excess luggage via the post office as consignment packages - cheaper than parcel post and excess baggage costs

Are you a citizen? It was my understanding that is a pre-req for flights to the US without a return ticket to the UK? But I'd be interested if that doesn't apply for Canadian residents (who are not citizens) - as I could use Detroit rather than a 4 hr drive to Toronto...

It is not pre req for anyone to have a flight booked back to the UK when entering the States.

If you can show either a return flight, or an intention to use the US as a through gate to another country, then that is enough.

Of course, a visa exempt national would still have to fill out an I-94.

We had a return flight booked. I have to admit I didnt test the options for actual becoming a landed immigrant. I was raising a question rather than making a statement of fact.
