cure for my homesickness
 

I lived the first 26 years of my life in Bournemouth. I have very fond memories of the town and even though I do get homesick, articles like this one remind me why I will never live there again.

If they'll do this to a blind man, I fear for my 60 year old Mum and 82 year-old Gran who still live there...

In all fairness, the US and Canada have the same problem with their youths. In NYC yesterday three kids playing hokey from school set a wheelchair bound Vietnam vet's plastic bag on fire while it was hanging on the back of his wheelchair. The bag ignited and then the chair and the vet caught on fire while they laughed. The vet and the chair were saved by quick thinking fellow bus riders.

Ontario is having problems with youths who are setting fires to empty homes, homes under renovation, trash bins, etc. In Ottawa they are skateboarding pass the elderly and deliberating pushing them into the street into the path of moving cars or stealing the ladies handbags or shopping bags.

Is there a solution? I can think of one but political correctness would not allow me to exercise that solution and then again most parents are too busy earning a living to provide luxuries for the little brats to give them a solid education in morals, respect and self-respect.

I know bournemouth well! spent many a good fun day there. I grew up in somerset. Got soaked fully clothed a few times there! :D
That is so sad to see. I just read the article and it is unbeleivable what some people do today. Lets hope they find themselves in similar sittuations when they get older. (if they live that long).
It is terrible though! It really makes you wonder what goes through their head.

I agree about the future! it is sad that the some of the youths today do not seem to have the respect for the elderly any more. I wish i had the answer.

I agree Rete - when we were kids if we even thought of a minor transgression we would have got a clip round the ear!! I remember fooling around at the dinner table and my dad gave me a clump on the head and my head went foreward and hit the table and I got a nosebleed!!! It doesn't seem to have done me any permanent harm and it would certainly have deterred me from going around attacking old ladies!!!
