criminal record, have job offer will i get into canada!
 

i have been offered a job in canada and are going for perminant residency, but are concerned regarding my record as over 12 years ago i was convicted for robbery i did 2 and half years. it has now been 10 years this month will i be classed as deemed rehabilitated and will i stand a chance in me and family getting into canada. also how long does the process take.

After five years you will be considered rehabilitated. Just make sure you provide all details on your application.

Hi

1. No, after 5 years since the completion of the sentence is when you can apply for rehabilitation.
2. If the conviction was for a crime that is punishable for LESS than 10 years under the Criminal Code, then you could be deemed rehabilitated after 10 years.
3. In the OP post s/he states was convicted of robbery, probably equates to 344(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada, and the maximum sentence is life. Therefor the OP can NEVER be deemed rehabilitated and until applies and receives rehabilitation is inadmissible as both a visitor and PR.

Thanks for that PMM, I had no idea that you could never be deemed rehabilitated for some crimes.
