Couple moving to Alberta
Hello! I was hoping I could find some clarity regarding both me and my partner moving over.
We’re currently engaged and have a 4.5month old. My partner is a Ambulance Tech here with a FREC 5 (looking to continue training to be a paramedic) and I’m a Finance Manager with a Masters degree. As far as I can tell, we are both skill level B and are eligible for Express Entry.
I was wondering whether the process was easier if we were married, and whether there was some guidance we could find re paramedic/tech training/entry for conversion from UK to CAN. We’re looking at Alberta, but in all honesty, open to any area.
I’ve also set up my own business here in the UK and was aware of a start-up visa program. Does anyone have any insight on this?
I know that I’ve got a couple of different questions in here, but any help/point of direction would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance 😊

Hello and welcome to BE!
First place to start is our lovely wiki on the basics of immigration Follow the post by Christmasoompa then post your result to our immigration forum.. it's not just being eligible for Express Entry - it's having enough points to get an invitation from the pool (currently you will need around 460+) https://britishexpats.com/wiki/Quick..._by_step_guide
As to Ambulance Tech - there are a couple of threads on the subject, but your partner will need to be registered in the Province they hope to work.. and see if their qualifications will be recognised by the Province. For Alberta; https://alis.alberta.ca/occinfo/occu...cal-personnel/ and https://abparamedics.com/registratio...plicant-types/ and https://copr.ca/assessment-of-international-applicants/ (each Province is a separate entitity)..
Unless you have lived together 'as if married' for a minimum period of 12 consecutive months - and have documentary proof) - therefore deemed 'common law' under Immgration rules, you would need to marry to apply together.
