depends under what context you are moving here, a bit more info will help to provide useful answers, ie will you have a mortgage or not, will you be working, do you have kids etc? otherwise you are likely to get a lot of replies that wont be of much help to you

Fresh vegetables and fruit are expensive, but eating out is reasonable. If you eat kraft dinners and processed food ns is cheap.however if you shop smart and buy items when they are on offer and freeze them it is not that expensive. Dairy products are price regulated so very rarely go on sale and are inflated in price so are expensive.

Food is relatively cheap if you like eating preprocessed shite..
If you want to eat fresh homemade food it can be expensive.
There are a number of things here that are either on par or even a little cheaper that the U.K. but as the wages are so much lower it makes little difference.
Sales taxes (VAT) are lower at 15% but as an item can be taxed every time it's sold (2nd hand cars etc) it probably evens out if you are trying to live cheaply..
The biggest problem is relating a trip here (on the back of a U.K. job) to living here (funded by a job in N.S.)..

Fresh veg is expensive as is chicken. Many around where I live have their own veg plots and grow as much as they need and freeze or bottle it for the rest of the year

Tax here is 15% as mentioned but it is not charged on fruit, vegetables and a lot of food products. Also there are tax free days at supermarkets so again it is a case of shopping at the correct times and not routinely at the same time every week.oh and alcohol is extortionate make your own wine!!!!!!!

Hi there, yes the cost of living in higher here but the quality of life is priceless,
future for your children priceless.
Personally i shop using the flyer deals, coupons and bulk buying when items are on sale and this gives me the ability to budget for the things I like.
Its really a mind set that takes a while to adopt, I think you need to find a way that works for your lifestyle.
